Los muros cortinas de vidrio exterior atornillado o abotonado (VEA) se contemplan como aquellas construcciones de vidrio cuyo sistema de fijación incluye, al menos, un dispositivo de fijación mecánica puntual que atraviesa las placas en todo o en parte de su espesor.

Con este sistema constructivo, la función portante y la de estanquidad están separadas: la primera se realiza dentro de la superficie de la placa, en tanto que la segunda, mediante el sellado con perfil elastómero de los bordes de la misma.
